Ecoconcrete Beam and block is delivering a CBC classroom each day with the government’s need to add more than 3,500 classrooms for the new curriculum learners. We have worked hand in hand with several schools to facilitate the effective and safe construction of classrooms.
Competency-based curriculum emphasizes the complex outcomes of a learning process (i.e. knowledge, skills and attitudes to be applied by learners) rather than mainly focusing on what learners are expected to learn about in terms of traditionally-defined subject content.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
In this study, we look at little steps academy like the name suggests the school starts from pre-primary education to lower primary education. They needed additional CBC classrooms and contacted us to deliver the beam and block floor and roof slab. Located in Kahawa Sukari, an area called Kiwanja. The school sits on an acre piece of land, the classroom building covers approximately 84m2 on the ground floor and upper floors, and the dining hall covers 28m2 on the ground floor. Each floor consists of 4 classrooms and a wash area. It has an outdoor playground for the student’s co-curricular activities.
Construction began In December 2022 and the stipulated completion period was mid-January before Schools resume for the new academic year
CLIENTS DILEMMA
Time was a major factor in this school project. Owners of little steps academy were in search of a solution that would fast-track the construction period adhering to the limited time frame they had. We normally do site visits to take accurate measurements before the production of the beam and block, and during installation for technical support in training the casual workers. This project was not an exception.
